August 2024 - Crits, snow and bears! Oh my!


Another month in the  books and summer is nearly over. A good bit of my work involved merging my demo build with the main build, making sure everything connected and worked correctly. I finished building the under water biomes and started building out the surrounding area/region that involves the demo dungeon.

  • Merged scripts, audio/music, tiles, character models and other related assets from demo build to main build 
  • Coral Cave map and underwater city created
  • Added spawns to coral cave, kelp forest, ship graveyard
  • Adjusted lighting on multiple maps to better fit the theme/biome 
  • Changed entry points to most underwater areas ('zone ins'), changing the overall layout of the underwater biome
  • Refactored shield block skill to be more efficient/make more sense under the hood 
  • Created player journal system for in-game note taking 
  • Modified damage logic formula to calculate dex and have a % chance to critically hit! Crits are now in the game.
  • Fixed some navigation in crypts
  • Bears now exist in Ivywood
  • Added stats, animations and placement/spawns of bears
  • Re-scripted several doors to be more efficient
  • Made an underwater city
  • Began work on north Ivywood and the northern, snowy/frozen region of the game (3 maps, more to come)
